We board our flight in Phoenix in the nick of time (me flying solo with 2 kids) to be greeted (not so much) by Ursula the flight witch. Yep, her real name. From the second we sat down she hated us and we weren't too fond of her either. I could just tell how much she despised kids and it must have been the end of her shift because she was done! It started with the OCD checking of our isle before take off - no joke 8 times and stopping to tell us something we were doing wrong each time. I wasn't pinning Mason down on my lap tight enough (we hadn't even started moving yet), our bags weren't all the way under the seats, only 3/4 the way under, Christian's seat belt was too loose and he could "slip right out" she says, then we dropped a baby wipe in the isle and back she rushed to snap it up. My kids were not even being bad and the flight hadn't even taken off - did she want me to show her bad?!?
Then the boys were patiently waiting for their drinks, which they were very excited about. Mason patted Ursula on the back and oh no, she turned with the biggest scowl and said "UH UH" twice and shaking her finger at him with total attitude. I wanted to let him hit her or give his famous bite but I resisted and laughed instead. I just wished I had someone else to turn and laugh with but I seemed to be the only witness.
The Best Part
After we landed and were sitting parked at our gate (with the fasten seatbelt light still on of course), Christian pushed the attendant call button without me knowing. No worries, Ursula would let me know, along with the whole flight. She gets on the loud speaker and firmly addresses the entire flight: "Nobody should be pushing the call button unless it's a dire emergency - IT IS ONLY FOR EMERGENCIES!" We were parked for crying outloud and she knew darn well it was my kids, her enemies. Everyone was looking around wondering who the suspect was. I proudly announced to all that she was speaking to MY KIDS. What a BEAST!!
I really was laughing it was so bad. When it was finally time to get off the plane, they announce: "thanks for flying Delta today, we welcome your comments on delta.com." Hmmm, I think I'll be sending a little comment about their "oh so friendly" flight attendant Ursula. The name fits. Be warned...
