Week of Injuries

So maybe I want a little sympathy or just really need to vent...My poor baby burned himself on my curling iron on Tuesday (BAD MOM). Ironic that I was just blogging about it being his favorite toy (MOM SHOULD KNOW BETTER). Usually I'm so good at keeping everything unplugged and out of reach but it happened SOOO FAST! Poor kiddo. Then the pediatrician basically pinned him down and scraped the outer skin off - twice this week - OUCH! He's showing no sign of discomfort - back to his wild, busy ways but this will definitely put a damper on our sun and water activities for awhile...please don't scar too bad.

Then to top it off, I got a bug bite last weekend (or a "ba-squito bite" as Christian says) that turned into a nasty staph infection on my entire forearm. It was hot and throbbing and my entire arm was swollen and tender. I had to get it sliced opened and drained and now I'm on heavy duty antibiotics which are making me nauseous. When I tell anyone in the medical field it's Mersa Staph, they freak out about how dangerous it is and hard to get rid of. GREAT! I'm feeling much better but still can't believe a bug bite turned so traumatic! So now you know, watch out for those ba-squitos!!

I wouldn't gross anyone out by posting a picture of the actual wound - disgusting - but here's my gauze cast post-slicing/draining (for sympathy factor).

See the 2 burns along his jaw and under his ear, so sad.

Mountain Escape

We escaped the heat and headed to my family's cabin in Woodland with some friends over the 24th weekend. It was a great, spontaneous getaway. The boys fished and played "bad guys," we swam and just relaxed. We all had a fun, relaxing weekend in the great outdoors with great company!
Mason fell asleep in the backpack, too cute.

ONE

1st Birthday Bash at Nana's House - who else would give babycakes a double chocolate cake to bash?
Happy FIRST Birthday to Mason ~ our beautiful blue eyed, toe-head, BITING, Mr. Intense, wild boy, newly walking (yes he's mobile), always babbling BOY! We sure love you and are so happy to have you in our family!

Word of the Moment: "Hot." Smart boy, seeing the recent 100 degree temps.

Favorite Toys: mom's blowdryer and curling iron (hence the word "Hot"), remotes, cell phones, power outlets, dirt (to eat of course), mom's flowers, dog food (from our borrowed dog) and let's not forget the open toilet (bonus when there's toilet paper within).

Where Has Our Baby Gone?

It makes me sad looking at how fast my sweet baby boy has grown in one short year...but I'm also looking forward to many more "firsts" to come. Happy Birthday Big Boy!

The Beach...in Utah

That's right, who knew there's a beach in Utah?? Minus the salt water, sharks and waves that is. Thanks to a tip from a friend, we found this great little lake in Herriman with a blocked off shallow area for the kids. Yes, it was a drive but definitely worth the trek. The kids LOVED playing in the sand (more like cat litter) and they could touch in the water (hence, mom could actually relax and enjoy the sun and water too). We'll definitely be going back so let us know if you want to join...next Wednesday? Thanks for letting us in on your great find Jess!

Ranch Reunion

We had our first Morgan Reunion with Troy's immediate family (25 people +1 on board) at Reid Ranch in the mountains past Strawberry. I highly recommend it for any family or large group. They had something for everyone: fishing, horseback riding, swimming (3 pools & hot tub), paddle boats, archery, mini golf, basketball, playground, campfires and they cooked all our meals - cafeteria style. Each group stays in a big lodge with tons of bedrooms, beds and most rooms have their own bathrooms.
Not surprisingly, Christian was voted as the family member who had the most fun - he really did every single activity and didn't stop until the wee hours of the night. He especially loved fishing with Daddy and his new Spiderman fishing pole. Snacktime after swimming, my cute cuddly duck!

They made us wear these dorky helmets and lifevests on the horses, apparently they didn't want anyone drowning if we fell off??A real weapon in my son's hand, watch out!Daddy/Son Time
The kids made twice daily trips to the "Trading Post" to pick out treats, snowcones and icecream. That's what vacation is all about, right?
Water Boy loves loves to swim, can't get him out of the water!
